Charts as explained in my previous post is a pictorial or graphical representation of a given data, this applies to both word and excel and other programs that the term may be used.
When a chart is created from an Excel data, there is this tendency of some users wanting to add text boxes to the current chart, for some reasons best know to them, either for beautification, for adding comment/comments to a point on the graph, or for advertisments, sometimes text boxes are added for an information to be brought out. Whatever the case may be, whatever the reason for adding a text box to a chart maybe, adding a text box to a chart can be carried out in 2 ways, i wll mention them, so read on!!!!

The first method is by making use of the Drawing toolbar. Making sure it is displayed is one thing, after that click the Text Box tool. Then the mouse pointer will change to cross hairs, then click and hold and drag to outline the text box you want created...

The second way to create a text box is to use the Formula bar. Make sure you select any part of your chart except a title or data label. Click in the Formula bar and start typing your desired text to appear in the text box. Press Enter, the text you typed will be placed in a text box in the center of the chart. You can now move, edit the text box as desired

this works for all versions of Excel except there may be changes in most recent versions
