Google Acquires Directr, An App For Shooting Short clips On Your Phone

Will they ever stop ? If yes, when ? For me i dont think so, they are simply moving forward, so we all gotta run along so we are not left outta the race.. Directr, an app released as at 2012, has been bought by Google a couple of weeks ago...
This Directr is a mobile application company that provides users with the ability to create beautiful and short movies on their phones in just a matter of minutes. The app automatically edit/sync your videos on your phone and make moving and sharing such videos very easy for everyone. Besides the purpose of making short clips, the app is also used businesses purposes, it can be used to shoot videos for marketing purposes, then you can choose to upload them to Facebook and YouTube, for instance, or embed them in newsletters, blogs, or websites.
The app also provides help with features like frame selection, building a storyboard & more, to provide “point-and-shoot movie making” on a smartphone.

Back then the app was worth US$25 and $400 a month, and this usually depends on the features and amount of usage for that specified month. For some reasons best known to them, Directr has decided that the app will be free but we do not know if there would be any improvements on it, sure they will because they are now in the hands of Google. This i confirmed from their website, i quote:

“For now, everything you love about Directr is staying the same and we’ll continue to focus on helping businesses create great video quickly and easily,” Directr said on its website.

“One immediate bonus: Directr will soon be all free, all the time. Thanks, YouTube!”

The 2-year-old company is joining YouTube’s video ads team.

Some details of this app
Founded: January 1, 2012
Headquarters: Boston, MA
Description: Directr is a mobile application company providing users with the ability to create movies on their phones.
Founders: Max Goldman, Eli Schleifer
Categories: Film, Private Social Networking, Entertainment, Photography
Website: http://directr.co

For now the app is only for Apple’s iOS. Versions for android have not be produced yet, but im sure as time goes on Google will do something about it.. The app is in two forms: one for personal use, and the other for business, so while registering, note these 2 functions. The personal usage is clearly on videos you have made and want to share with your family and friends, videos you may have gotten from social gatherings, tourism, travel videos and more. this version is kinda free but downloading a finished video cost about 99 cents. As for the other usage which is the business purpose, the videos are for teaching companies to shoot things like testimonials, product demonstrations, adverts and more. .. The business version cost $250-$500 a year, depending on what features you may be needing.

In a grand total, the Directr app had raised around $1.7M to date
