Handheld ZX Spectrum 'pain in buttons'

The makers of a handheld ZX Spectrum console which has the support of Sir Clive Sinclair have blamed issues with the device's buttons for its delayed launch.
The retro gaming console received almost £500,000 ($0.6m) in crowdfunding earlier this year and was due to ship in September.
Retro Gaming Computers Limited has told the BBC the first batch will now ship in February 2017.
It features 1,000 pre-installed games.
The firm had said in an update on its Indiegogo page titled A Pain In The Buttons that testing had been "trickier than previously suspected".
Many backers leaving comments on the fundraising page had requested more information about what was happening.
"We expected teething trouble, being a new product, but we should be kept up to speed on all developments as after all we are the investors/backers and have made the project possible in the first place," wrote one by the name of John Smith.
"Just set the record straight. Give us evidence of working machines and menus. Box art, cad designs for buttons..." wrote Darren Randle.

'Sinclair legacy'

Managing director Suzanne Martin said the firm was sorry about the delay.
"In November we identified an improvement we believed was essential to the Vega+ gaming experience," she said.
"An improvement that would make the feel of the product far better, including a correction in the design of one of the buttons making it more robust and able to withstand the rigours of extended game-play. We also wanted to make sure we did justice to the Sinclair legacy.
"This change has caused a brief delay and we are truly sorry about that, but we needed this time to improve the product and we have now completed the necessary revisions and we are delighted to announce that we will ship the first units in February 2017."
Retro Gaming Computers Limited is also embroiled in a dispute with two former directors, who are no longer involved in the project but remain shareholders.

How To Monitor And Manage Connected Users On Your Hotspot

If you’re in the habit of leaving your Wifi hotspot enabled and open to connections from friends, family and or even colleagues, chances are, your hotspot would attract some of the bad guys too. Now, no need to panic if you already did. There’s a way to keep everything under control.
With any wifi analyzer you can get from the Google Play Store, you will be able to manage your hotspot, view detailed information of connected devices and block unwanted users – or so I thought at first!
However, my hopes of getting a wifi analyzer that could do exactly what I wanted without crashing every two or three minutes began diminishing after a few of searching and testing several apps until I finally came across this one dubbed Wifi Analyzer- Home Wifi Alert. It  just works!

With the app, I could finally block my younger bro’s Play Station (hehe) once he came online outside his free time. I could finally see the usage of data by my friends’ connected devices and block them off once they cross their boundaries. In fact, the app did just what I wanted.

Now, here are the key features of Wifi Analyzer- Home Wifi Alert:

• Network Analyzer:
– Displays IP addresses, MAC addresses, display names, access point you are connected to, and allows you to customize images/icons and edit display names.

• Wifi Strength:
-Wifi tester that shows Wifi signal strength! Also, shows you if you are connected to your internet and displays your routers public IP.

• Access Point Scan:
-Displays all router Access Points in range to you, what their MAC address are, channel they are using, and their db signal strength.

• Access Point Graphs:
-Displays the current channel your router is operating on and displays how many neighbors are on the same channel. On the channel rating page, it will rate which channel will be your best option to set your WiFi to for speed and reliability.

• Connections:
-Displays ALL connections that are currently connected through your device. It displays established foreign connections, listening IP, and closed connections. Each established IP is checked against 35 Backlisted databases to and displays if the IP’s are trusted or known threats!

• Block feature:
– The most useful/unique feature on this wifi analyzer/network analyzer. Brings you to your devices web interface so you can log in and input unwanted MAC address to the router’s filter table to block device from using the internet. Go to www.homewifialert.net to see how to use this function.
• Network Analyzer tools! On the tools tab, the app can provide DNS lookup, Whois data, ping/port scan host names and FQDN scans, and traceroute! Added Cell data strength gauge tab which displays Network type and Network speed data

• Protect yourself
Congested wifi channels and Untrusted (wifi theft) devices slow down your internet connection and put a strain on your Wifi! Don’t overpay for faster internet speeds or suffer with a slow connection, take charge and stop Wifi theft and pick the best wireless channel to be on altogether with Home Wifi Alert – Wifi analyzer.
If you need to get the app, click here to head over to the Google Play Store.

Glo 4G extends to more than 33 Cities In Nigeria

Nigerians in different locations across the country have been empowered by Globacom’s nationwide mobile 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network which is now in 33 cities and towns, the company said in a statement yesterday.

“Sixteen new locations have just been added to the company’s 4G network. Latest 2-Step Verification on whatsApp

The rollout of two-factor authentication for the popular messaging app, WhatsApp, has taken some time to arrive, but now it’s finally here.

According to a report from Android Police, the latest beta versions of WhatsApp (for Android, and, apparently, even the Windows Phone beta) feature two-factor authentication for added security. Within the app, users need to head into Settings, where there is an obvious “Two-step verification” option right there in the list.

Tapping that will take the user through the set-up process, which begins with explaining what two-factor authentication is. The next screen will have the user inputting a six-digit string of numbers in, confirming them, and then finishing up the process. Users will need to make sure an email is available to reset the password, if that is necessary at some point.

With two-step verification, WhatsApp users will have an extra level of security in place. It’s used for when a new device is registered with someone’s phone number for the service. Now, instead of that person, who might not be the owner of the account, immediately gaining access, they’ll need to put that six-digit code in. Without it, there won’t be access.

The new feature appears to be rolling out now, so WhatsApp users should expect to see it soon if they don’t already have access to it.

YouTube Might Be Transformed Into A Full Pledged Social Media Platform Soon

When you hear the word YouTube, the first thing that comes to your mind is video. What we know YouTube to be is a platform where we upload videos, watch videos, comment, like, dislike and just any other thing that has to do With videos. But that might probably be changing soon as Google is planning to make YouTube more than just an online video platform that we have always known it to be.

While the videos are shared YouTube, most of the conversation happens on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter among others. According to Information from Venturebeat, the internet giant ,Google is planning to transform YouTube from just an online video sharing platform to a simple social networking website.
The feature which is going to be called "Backstage" will allow YouTube users to share photos, surveys, links, text messages and videos with subscribers.

This new feature which is expected to be launched at the end of this year is going to be available for desktop websites and also application for mobile devices. According to Venturebeat, this new service will first be made available to the most influential and popular YouTube users, then progressively it will be released to the general public.

For now we will say this is a rumour since it hasn't been made official yet. But if Google happens to push forward with this new project then it's definitely going to change the face of YouTube and the social media as a whole.

Upcoming Apple iPhone with 256GB Internal Storage Almost Confirmed

We have seen a bunch of iPhone 7 rumours till now. Most of them were confirmed by many sources, whereas others appear to be still a work in progress. One such rumour is about the iPhone 7 having a 256GB storage option. So this is one of the rumours which we are seeing from the beginning, and now more leaks have suggested that this might be true after all. Also recently, a well-known Chinese manufacturer of data collection also suggested some similar reports. As you can see from the image below, a 256GB variant is also seen along with the 32GB and the 128GB. These reports are from the first assembly declaration.

So now it’s a just a matter of time as we see the device in all its glory. The launch is expected to happen by the second week of September. Also, recently there are rumours of an iPhone 6 SE as well.

After four months of launching the latest iPhone 6s and 6s Plus , now we are seeing the possible specifications of the iPhone 7 plus . Though this is not the first time we are hearing something about upcoming iPhones, the latest information comes from the suppliers suggesting the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus to features 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch displays that are same as on iPhone 6 & 6 Plus and iPhone 6s & 6s Plus .

The changes can be found in the specifications part, where the upcoming iPhones are said to sport 256GB of internal storage along with the other storage variants. Recently Asus is the only manufacturer that launched the special edition Zenfone 2 Deluxe with a such a huge 256GB built-in storage. While this year iPhones came with smaller capacity batteries than their predecessors, but the 2017 iPhones will have a larger battery where the larger iPhone 7 Plus will include a 3,100mAh battery, i.e.; 12.7% bigger when compared to the 2,750mAh battery on the iPhone 6s Plus.

The Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) will only be part of the bigger iPhone 7 Plus, where both the devices can record videos in 4K resolution. As seen with the pricing of recently launched iPhone 6 Plus that is priced $949 for the 128GB Storage option which is $100 more than the 64GB model. Since the expected 256GB storage is the double than the currently available options, we expect the pricing to be around $1149 or somewhere around that which will also be $100 more than the 128GB variant.

With the increased battery capacities, we can also expect the device to be slightly thicker than the currently available iPhone 6s plus. There are others rumors that Apple is opting out the 3.5mm audio jack to make the device 1mm slimmer. The company will be through in a Bluetooth EarPods within the package along with a special adapter for connecting the normal headphones with the lighting port. Take this with a pinch of salt until there is a confirmation from the company.

Full List Of Night Plans On All Network And Their Subscription Code

The competition among network providers in Nigeria intensifies with every new data and tariff plan they release as everyone of them is trying to get the most costumers at the end of the day. The latest trend is with the night plan. But this is only for those who are ready to sacrifice their night rest for cheap data plan.

Although Mtn actually started the night plan, others have also followed suite with their different night packages. So now you can decide to go for either Mtn, Airtel, Etisalat or Glo depending on the one that suites you most. I will list out all available night plans, validity, price and also data cap.

Mtn Night Plan:
This started it all and it's arguably still the most popular of them all. Although Mtn claims that this plan is valid from 12a.m to 4a.m the same day, it actually expires at 3.30am and not 4a.m.

With the Mtn night plan, at just N25 you get 500mb of data after which fair usage policy will be applied. And it last from 12a.m to 3:30a.m the same day.

How To Activate Mtn Night Plan.
==> First, you must be on Mtn pulse. To migrate just dial *406#.
==> Make sure you have at least N25 on your Mtn line.
==> To subscribe, SMS "night" to 131.
Unfortunately this plan can't be renewed same night. Which means you can only subscribe once in a day.

Airtel Night Plan:
The Airtel Night Plan to me is inarguably the best of them all as long as you have a good network reception in your area. Airtel actually offers two options. You can either subscribe for 500mb at N25 or 1.5Gb at N50 and it's valid from 12:00a.m to 4:00a.m.

What makes the Airtel plan better is that, unlike the Mtn night plan, you can renew the Airtel Night Plan the same day. But this plan is only available for those on Airtel Trybe tariff plan.

How to Activate the Airtel Night Plan
==> Make sure you are on Airtel Trybe or migrate by dialing *312#.
==> Make sure you have enough airtime on your line.
==> Dial *312*2# and follow the command prompt.
Like I said earlier, you can subscribe for the Airtel Night plan more than once in a day.

Glo Night Plan:
Unlike the rest, Glo actually offers night and weekend plan. Which means that the Glo night plan is valid in the night on weekdays and all day during the weekend.

How To Active Glo Night/Weekend Plan
==> To subscribe, dial *127*61#.
==> Or dial *777# and follow the on-screen command prompt.

Etisalat Night Plan:
This to me is the worst of all four, in spite of multiple criticism by their customers, etisalat night plan still remains the most expensive of them all. With the etisalat night plan, you get 1Gb for N200 which is valid from 12a.m to 5a.m

How To Active The Etisalat Night Plan
== > Make sure you have at last N200 on your Etisalat line.
==> Dial *229*3*11# to Activate.

The etisalat night plan is valid from 12a.m to 5a.m the same day.
Aside the Etisalat Night plan, they also have another weekend and night plan of 2Gb for N1,000 and 5Gb for 2,000 which runs from 7p.m to 7a.m on weekdays and all day on weekends. You also get extra 100mb for WhatsApp only which can be used anytime, any day .

So guys that's all. Above is the full list of all available night plans and detailed information on each of them. It's now your choice to choose the one that you think suites you most.

If you have any question, feel free to ask and also don't forget to share this post on your various social media platforms.

Get 100% Data Bonus When You Purchase A New Smartphone With Mtn Kpalasa Bonus Offer

Just like the Etisalat smartphone offer, Mtn has also decided to reward its customers anytime they purchase a new smartphone with 100% bonus on every data plan purchased.

The new offer which is dubbed "Mtn Kpalasa data bonus offer" will give you double the worth of any Mtn data plan you purchase whenever you buy a new smartphone from any store in Nigeria and the offer is valid for 6 months. What this means is that if you buy a 3.5gb data plan which cost N2,000, you will get 7gb data instead.

Eligibility:
To be eligible for this offer, all you need to do is just to purchase a new smartphone from any mobile store in Nigeria. It works on both old and new sim cards.

How To Participate In This Offer
==> Purchase a new smartphone from any store in Nigeria.
==> Insert your registered Mtn sim card.
==> Just wait for a few minutes and you should receive a confirmation message like "CONGRATULATIONS! Your smartphone has been activated to enjoy DOUBLE on any data bundle you buy for the next 6mths. Dial *131*1# to buy your preferred data plan."
==> Just dial *131# and select any data bundle of your choice.

How To Use Incense To Catch Nearby Pokemon In Pokemon

When you start playing Pokemon your in-game starter kit includes Poke balls and incense. The Poke Balls you already know what to do with but the incense is also incredibly useful. The incense attracts Pokemon to wherever you drop it. It can cause Pokemon to spawn where the incense has been dropped and it can also attract Pokemon that are nearby to the location. You can’t target what type of Pokemon is attracted to the incense because they do still spawn according to habitat. If you’re in range of a few Pokemon and unable to physically go and find them, a little incense can do wonders. Here’s how to use it.

To access you items inventory, tap the Poke Ball and select ‘Items’. The incense is at the very top. Tap it and you will switch back to the map screen with the incense floating on top.

Drag & drop it wherever you want. The incense has a range which is slightly larger than the player’s own range for capturing Pokemon. If you change your mind about using the incense, just tap the little cross at the bottom.

The incense lasts thirty minutes. Once dropped, a pink mist cloud appears inside the player’s range circle. The circle will be slightly larger than it normally is. When the incense is active, a timer appears just below the compass at the top right of the map.

[IMG] [IMG]

Keep the game running and eventually a Pokemon will show up for you to catch.

[IMG] [IMG]

The incense continues to work for thirty minutes and you can capture as many Pokemon that appear within range. The incense only serves to attract the Pokemon and doesn’t aid in capturing them.

You’ll quickly find that using the incense is incredibly tempting. The best time and place to use it of course is when there are lots of Pokemon nearby. Use the Nearby menu and the rustling grass on the map to see how close Pokemon are before you decide to use the incense. If there are no Pokemon nearby, you can still use incense and it will attract Pokemon. The spawn rate might be lower than it would have been if there were lots of Pokemon nearby. It’s also worth mentioning here that not all Pokemon that are nearby will show up. If there are lots of them nearby and one or two of them are rare, you shouldn’t expect the rare ones to spawn definitely. As we mentioned earlier, you cannot target a particular Pokemon.

You start out with just two incenses and they will go quickly while you try and get the hang of it. The question is, where to get more? You can get incense in two different ways; you can buy it using the in-game currency, or you can get it free from a Poke Stop.

In my personal experience with incense, I was able to catch four Pokemon in the span of thirty minutes. There were quite a few of them nearby and the incense did the trick. The incense works only for you i.e. other players cannot benefit from it nor will they know the area you’ve dropped incense on is a hotspot for Pokemon.

How To Walk In Pokemon Go And Find Poke Stops

Pokemon Go has arrived and it’s already interfering with productivity. The game is possibly the best AR game out there today and there are none like it which makes the game play slightly confusing. Mobile games are supposed to be simple and we can normally play them without having to do much other than tilt our screens or tap them. With Pokemon Go, things are quite different and many users are having trouble just learning to get around and finding Poke Stops. Here’s how to do both.

Once you’ve captured the one Pokemon during the game’s initiation stage, you’re character is left on a map where the game claims there are other Pokemon for you to catch. However, despite all your walking around, the character doesn’t move. This is because walking around your house or apartment isn’t going to be enough. You’re going to have to physically leave your house and walk or take a drive around your city to find other Pokemon. This is NOT a game you can play by just sitting on your couch.
Pokemon Go doesn’t use the accelerometer/gyroscope/whatever to move you around on the map. It uses your GPS coordinates so walking around your house does little to change them. Get up and go to the park, visit a friend, or get take out and make sure you stay alert. Your device vibrates when a Pokemon is in capture range.

The next question is how to find a Poke Stop. The games tells you to find them around statues or landmarks and you might wonder what qualifies as a landmark that’s worthy of being marked a Poke Stop. The answer is very little; a mall, a popular park in your area, a popular restaurant, and even a church might qualify as a Poke Stop. The game isn’t stingy with them and I was able to find four different Poke Stops by driving around a small section of an already small city. The Pokemon appear regularly enough although you’re far more likely to find them inside dense neighborhoods instead of on larger roadways.

Chrome OS and Linux Users Can Now Make Phone Calls From Skype for Web

It seems like Microsoft has finally chosen a more accommodating stance as the company seems to have allowed specifically Chrome OS and Linux users to make audio calls by using Skype for Web. However, the company has not made any official statement regarding this recent update. As to when an official statement will be made is unknown to us, but be sure to get an update from us ASAP.
A simple sign-in procedure now allows you to make voice calls through Skype for Web. Earlier, only instant messaging support was provided to Chrome OS users through Skype for Web.
Even though the audio calls can now be made via Chromebooks, video call support has not been provided to Skype for Web on Chrome OS as of now, according to a report by PC World.
It's worth pointing out that some Chromebook users have the option of using Skype's Android app, it will have very limited appeal as very few Chromebooks are getting support for Android apps and Play Store.
Last month, Android App and Google Play support came to Chrome OS-running Asus Chromebook Flip. Along with the Asus Chromebook Flip, Acer Chromebook R11 and Google Chromebook Pixel (2015 edition) are also expected to get the support for running Android apps.
In May, Chromebooks outsold Apple's Mac machines for the first time in the US, so they seem to be getting a lot of traction in the market. Skype's latest move will be music to Chrome OS users

How to access your Chrome apps without the apps launcher

In March, Google put an end to its attempted invasion of the Windows desktop by killing the Chrome Apps Launcher for Windows, Mac, and Linux. The company said at the time it would remove the launcher in July.

The app launcher was an icon on the Windows task bar that contained links to all your installed Chrome apps. The feature made it easier to get at your installed Chrome apps— say, Google Drive, Maps, or Gmail—without launching the full Chrome browser. Google said it decided to give up on the feature because most users prefer to launch Chrome apps from the browser anyway.
If you’re not clear on the difference, Chrome apps are not the same as browser extensions. Chrome apps are designed to function as stand-alone programs. They are built on the Chrome platform, but exist in their own window separate from the Chrome browser.
Now that July is here, it’s time to figure out how to maintain easy access to Chrome apps.
First, you want to make sure it’s easy to access your Chrome apps inside Chrome. By default, Google puts a shortcut called Apps in Chrome’s bookmarks bar. If you got rid of that bookmark because you were using the app launcher, it’s easy to get the shortcut back.
First, hover your mouse over your bookmarks bar and then right-click. Next, select the Show apps shortcut option from the context menu.
The Apps shortcut should now be on the far left of your bookmarks bar. Whenever you need an app just click that icon and Chrome will open a new tab at chrome://apps where all your Chrome apps are listed.

Chrome apps and the taskbar

Returning the apps shortcut makes it easy to access your Chrome apps in one place, but what about putting Chrome apps in the Windows taskbar? That’s still possible on an à la carte basis.
Let’s say you want to have Google Keep on your taskbar. Open a new tab in Chrome and navigate to chrome://apps or click the Apps shortcut. Next, right-click on Google Keep and select Create shortcuts... from the context menu. Now click Create in the pop-up window that appears.
You now have a Google Keep shortcut on the desktop, but we need to get it onto the taskbar by dragging it there with your mouse. Once that’s done, Google Keep will be accessible from the taskbar with no need to open Chrome first. If you want to keep your desktop tidy, just delete that shortcut—removing the shortcut from your desktop will not affect its usability on the taskbar.
Those are just two basic ways to get easy access to Chrome apps in a post-launcher world.
